Real Humility

Without being aware of it, we can easily get caught up in going after what we want and get upset with others who stand in our way. This proudful pursuit of our interests is called “friendship with the world,” and it is opposed to God. However, when we humble ourselves and repent, when we get serious about coming near to him, God will come near to us. The truly humble person does not try to exalt themselves by looking down on others or ignoring their preferences or needs. Instead, they are led by their love for God and they trust God to “lift them up” appropriately. What role does humility play in your life?
